Mahuki - 10.jpg

Ma-nifest, Hu-mility & Ki-ndness

Mahuki is jazz with a rock edge and a restless pulse. Czech-born guitarist and composer Honza Kourimsky, writes music built on heavy riffs, cinematic horn lines and fearless improvisation. Since launching the project in 2022, he has built a sound and identity rooted in intention, humility, and connection—values that shape not just the music, but how it’s made and shared.

Mahuki was launched in Scotland, UK. The debut record, LIVE FROM THE LIVING ROOM SET, was recorded in front of a sold-out audience and quickly gained traction on BBC Radio Scotland, NESS Radio (France), and The Face Radio (USA). He followed it with a UK tour, including a featured performance at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival.

In 2024, Mahuki released GRATITUDE, expanding his sonic palette with strings, ambient textures, and spoken word. The record was supported by Bridge the Gap Management, with Creative Scotland funding a tour across the UK and Czech Republic soon after, performing alongside genre-defining artists such as Soweto Kinch and Liam Shortall (corto.alto).

GRATITUDE was features on Jazz FM, BBC Radio 3, Worldwide FM, and Reprezent Radio, as well as a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Round Midnight. Mahuki has been championed by tastemakers including Tina Edwards, with editorial support from outlets like Twisted Soul, Cast the Dice, UK Jazz News, and You and the Music. His music was included in playlists such as Apple Music’s Jazz Scene UK and Shapeshifting, as well as Spotify’s Jazz Scene UK*Spitting Fire, and Somewhere Soul.

In recognition of his creative vision, Mahuki was nominated for the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award, followed by a nomination for the Made in Scotland Fund. In 2026, Mahuki relocated to Washington State and debuted in the Pacific Northwest with an opening performance for Christian McBride & Ursa Major at the Whidbey Island Jazz Festival.

At the heart of it all is a commitment to honest, high-energy music—music that pulses with clarity and emotional depth, built for dancers, dreamers, and those drawn to rhythm that feels human and alive.
